When we look at the Scriptures, we see important commands bookending Jesus earthly ministry. He starts by gathering a few ordinary men and saying, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." (Matthew 4:19) And before Jesus ascended, he gave them one last command: "Go, therefore, and make disciples." (Matthew 28:19) Because of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, we are invited into the same relationship with Him. As people who know Him and have seen His glory, we share the responsibility and the joy to go and make disciples.
How do we make disciples? This is what we want to look at for our next IF:Equip study.
We're calling it Woven: The Art of Making Disciples because discipleship is not a checklist, a program, or a project. It is a weaving together of lives and of people's stories, just like our stories have been woven into this greater story of redemption. We come into contact with people each day, and with that comes the opportunity to create discipleship relationships. Through this five week study, our hope is that we will learn to engage, serve, and exemplify the love of Christ. Are you in?
